Selected Intermedia Projects Based in Documentary Research
These are multi-year projects.

"Salt Marsh Suite," a collaborative multi-channel video and sound installation piece with live performance, based on materials collected in a salt marsh in coastal North Carolina, the Cube, Institute for Creativity, Arts, and Technology, Moss Arts Center, Virginia Tech, 2014. Taubman Museum, Roanoke, VA 2015/2016. [Virginia Museum of Natural History and Piedmont Art Association, 2017]

"Singing Darwin," a collaborative intermedia project and performance art piece; the first exhibition was on the 150th anniversary of the publication of On the Origin of Species, Armory Gallery, Virginia Tech.

"Living Darwin," an original play about Charles Darwin and evoltion, co-written and co-directed by Ann Kilkelly, Carol Burch-Brown, and Robert Leonard, and with TWISTS (Theatre Workshops in Science, Technology, and Society); performed at Studio Theater at the Celebration of Darwin, a national conference at Virginia Tech, 2009. Portions of the play were performed at the Science and Technology Society Studies (4S) International Conference, Washington, D.C., 2009.

"Waiting Children," a 35 minute documentary video about adopting children through the foster care system in Virginia, commissioned by DePaul Family Services of Virginia; statewide distribution the VA Department of Social Services, County DSS agencies and DePaul, completed in 2008.

"The Shamrock Bar," a photographis and oral history project about a gay bar in Bluefileld, West Virginia, in existence 1964-2001; in the collection of the Smithsonian Museum of American History, the National Archive Center, Washington, D.C., an ongoing project, main corpus completed in 2005
